[Oxidative stress in association with risk factors for the occurrence and development of age-related macular degeneration].

چکیده

Broj starijih stanovnika gotovo je u globalnom porastu, pa socijalni i ekonomski značaj bolesti karakterističnih za taj deo populacije postaje sve veći. Opadanje vidne oštrine, kolornog vida, kontrastne senzitivnosti i slabljenje drugih vidnih funkcija tokom starenja nastaju i usled promena u retini i moždanim strukturama, a ne samo zbog slabljenja akomodacije ili pojave katarakte . Staračka degeneracija žute mrlje mrežnjače (age-related macular degeneration – AMD) vodeći je uzrok trajnog ili legalnog slepila kod populacije starijih od 50 godina u razvijenim zemaljama. Učestalost upadljivo raste sa godinama starosti 4, . Ipak, od AMD ne oboleva svaka stara osoba, a, takođe, svi delovi retine ne trpe takva oštećenja. Osim odmaklog životnog doba, verovatno postoji niz drugih sistemskih i lokalnih faktora rizika u njenoj genezi. Oksidativni stres posledica je evolucije aerobnog života na zemlji, baš kao i fotooksidativni stres, koji udružuje negativna dejstva sunčeve svetlosti i kiseonika kod dnevnih organizama . S obzirom da se niz promena u organizmu smatra posledicom oksidativnog stresa, uključujući i one koje se odnose na starenje, razumljivi su stalni pokušaji njihovog zaustavljanja. Logičan sled koraka u tom, delom uspešnom, a delom frustrirajućem naporu, jeste izučavanje etiologije i patogeneze bolesti staračkog doba. Jedna od glavnih teškoća u izučavanju AMD je diferenciranje procesa starenja od suštinski patoloških procesa. Retina se ne može posmatrati izolovano od celog organizma, njegove cirkulacije i metaboličkih procesa. Sa druge strane, kontinuirano je izložena fotohemijskim procesima, što dodatno otežava diferenciranje promena različitih geneza.
